BookMarrow is a note-taking app for nonfiction readers, built to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what happens to your information.
Everything you add in BookMarrow — books, chapter notes, quotes, “how to apply it” items, tags, and ratings — is stored on your device and, when iCloud is enabled, synced through Apple iCloud (CloudKit) to your other devices. This data lives in your personal iCloud account. We have no access to it and do not collect, transmit, or store it on any server we control. Your use of iCloud is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
When you search for a book by title or scan a barcode, the app sends that search text or ISBN to third-party book databases — Open Library and Google Books — to retrieve book details and cover images. These services receive only the query needed to return results. We never send them your notes or any personal information. Their handling of requests is governed by their own policies:
BookMarrow can use your device camera to scan a book’s barcode and to capture text from a page. This processing happens entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device frameworks. Camera images are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored by us.
We do not collect personal data, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, or tracking data of any kind. The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics software.
BookMarrow is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will appear here with a new “Last updated” date.
